The environmental representatives in the City of Nice, opposed to the mayor’s project concerning the demolition of the National Theater of Nice and the Acropolis Palace, are calling on the residents of Nice to consider an “alternative project” during workshops, the first of which takes place this Thursday. According to them, demolishing these buildings is a financial and ecological nonsense.

The environmental representatives do not understand why the TNN, which is part of an architectural ensemble with the MAMAC (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) and has a 1,200-seat auditorium, a 300-seat auditorium, a rehearsal room, and costume storage, would be destroyed.

The municipality responds that there has already been a “regulatory public consultation” and that Christian Estrosi was re-elected mayor with this flagship project to demolish the TNN and Acropolis to expand the Promenade du Paillon.
