Controversy over surveillance cameras installed in classrooms at the University of Nice

Latest News

Upon returning from the All Saints’ holiday on November 8, at the National Higher Institute of Teaching and Education (Inspe), these teachers had an unpleasant surprise: they discovered that surveillance cameras had been installed in the classrooms without their consent.

On Wednesday, the magazine Libรฉration revealed that cameras had been installed at Inspe, within the Cรดte d’Azur University. More specifically, the cameras were installed in two classrooms, above the board, and in the corridors.

An anonymous staff member filed a complaint this Thursday with the CNIL, the National Commission on Informatics and Liberty, which claims to have received several complaints. These complaints concern the installation of two cameras in the classrooms as well as the โ€œlack of information for the individuals concernedโ€.
