To limit classroom closures, the health measures in primary and secondary schools are changing this Monday.
To “limit the impact in terms of class closures and maintain the same level of protection for students,” Jean-Michel Blanquer announces new provisions.
We are pursuing two fundamental objectives: keeping schools open while protecting the health of students and staff. Starting Monday, there will no longer be class closures at the first case of #COVID19 in primary schools, but a systematic testing of the class.
Nearly 8,500 classes are closed in France, laments Jean-Michel Blanquer, the Minister of Education. With the aim of reconciling schooling and the health crisis, new provisions are being implemented in schools.
From now on, only the student who tests positive for the coronavirus will be isolated. In other words, one case of COVID no longer automatically leads to the class being closed for a week.
The entire class will have to be tested. Children who test negative will be able to continue attending the institution. For students who have contracted the coronavirus, nothing changes; they will need to stay home for 7 days.

The health protocol remains at level 2. A box of 10 self-tests will be distributed to middle school students. Twice a week, they will have to perform a self-test under supervision.
