On the night of December 24th to 25th, shortly after midnight, a 24-year-old man was shot dead in Las Planas, a neighborhood in northern Nice. When they arrived at the scene, the firefighters were unable to revive him.
A woman, a family member of the victim, was taken to Pasteur Hospital after arriving at the crime scene in shock.
The perpetrator and his accomplices fled in a car that was later found in Cagnes-sur-Mer, and they are still being sought. Ermelindo, the victim, was unknown to the police.
An investigation for organized group murder has been opened by the prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the judicial police of Nice. So far, no specific lead is being prioritized, as the majority of witnesses have not yet been heard.
According to the prosecutor’s initial findings, the shooter reportedly fired without a specific target. The judicial police handling the case will have to determine this.
