This is the bad news at the end of this week. OGC Nice will not be on the Ligue 1 fields this weekend. We last saw the Gym draw last weekend on the pitch of Reims (0-0). However, the 29th day of Ligue 1 will indeed take place this weekend. But only six matches are scheduled over these two days.
The Gym was supposed to face OM in a southern derby at the Vélodrome on February 13 and 14. But the Professional Football League decided to reschedule the matches of the teams still in European competition. Marseille played its first leg of the Europa League quarter-final against Benfica this Thursday. The Phoceans will play the return match next Thursday, April 18.
Prioritizing the path of French clubs engaged in European Cups
The derby will therefore be played on Wednesday, April 24, at 9 p.m. Lille and PSG, also involved in European Cups, are in the same situation. Their matches, respectively in Monaco and Lorient, have been postponed to the same date. These exceptional reschedulings allow these clubs to better prepare for their European commitments. “The path of French clubs in European Cups is an absolute priority.
