The Louis Nucéra Library undergoing transformation

Latest News

One of the most popular public services for the people of Nice, the Louis Nucéra Library, is getting a makeover to become a major 21st-century establishment.

Since its inauguration in 2002, the Louis Nucéra regional purpose municipal library has been a cultural pillar of Nice. However, after more than twenty years of service, it requires modernization to meet the demands of a contemporary library.

The City of Nice, under the direction of Christian Estrosi, has therefore launched an ambitious renovation project as part of the 2020 museum plan. The works, presented on March 27, 2024 by Christian Estrosi and Jean-Luc Gagliolo, aim to transform the library into a modern, inclusive, and technologically advanced space.

A vast project for a future prominent library

The works, already started on the roof garden, will continue until July 2025. The renovations include creating a new entrance on traverse Barla, reorganizing spaces, and implementing efficient and energy-saving lighting.

The library will be equipped with new flexible spaces tailored to the diverse needs of users and modernized technical equipment. To ensure comfort and safety for everyone, inclusion measures for people with disabilities and vulnerabilities will be implemented, along with digital services accessible 24/7.

During the works, a “Click-and-Collect” service and off-site activities will be offered to minimize disruptions.
