Placed under judicial liquidation last summer, the Azurean establishment was finally taken over by the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The announcement, made during a press conference organized by the CCI this Monday, December 11, is a relief to many. The campus will indeed reopen its doors with a new mode of governance to continue training digital talents. This private school, envisioned by billionaire Xavier Niel, the man behind Free, initially offers a 3-year, entirely free training in computer science.
With 7 sites in France and 54 campuses worldwide, the École 42 association can rely on a wide network present across several continents. The Azurean establishment opened its doors in October 2020. It was later placed in receivership before undergoing court-ordered administration last June. A judicial liquidation followed on July 24.
Closed but not abandoned
It’s not easy to keep up when your school is closed. That’s why the 42 Network had hired at the time a trainer exclusively dedicated to the students of Nice, to fight against dropout.
In turn, the PACA Region as well as the NCA Metropolis did not fail to show their full support: “The Region Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis remain fully mobilized, in close connection with the national ‘École 42’ network, at the service of learners: students will be able to complete their studies remotely, thanks to the mobilization of other campuses and their trainers”.
Students who will get back on track
As expected, the establishment has been taken over by the CCI to impose a new governance to be implemented by 2024. The financing is provided by the latter to the tune of 500,000 euros, but also by the PACA Region (500,000 euros), the business travel management specialist Travel Planet (100,000 euros) as well as the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis which provides the premises.
For these future software developers, “data scientists” or even Artificial Intelligence engineers, classes will start on January 15 in the usual premises, located at 61 avenue Simone Veil in Nice.
