It is often said that reality sometimes surpasses fiction…!
For the past few days, associations (from different sides) in Nice have been warning of a probable arrival of the anti-migrant ship C-Star, which, with a group of identitarians on board, has been sailing the Mediterranean for a few weeks with the intention of blocking the activities of NGOs in the migrant flow between Libya and Europe.
In fact, more than a ship, it is an old vessel rented through crowdfunding, and its identitarians are just a group of idle people who found a way to spend their holidays in an unusual manner by attracting attention.
Needless to say, they have not approached any migrant ships, and in any case, they would have been intercepted and neutralized by the Italian military navy.
Moreover, that was not their goal, but rather to create confusion and… entrap fools always ready to invoke great principles, especially when it serves no purpose!
The information about the possible docking of the C-Star in Nice therefore took on the appearance of an invasion attempt by the Spanish Armada of King Philip II on the English coasts in the 16th century during the reign of Elizabeth I!
In the current case, the threat was less obvious, the crew of the C-Star being composed of about fifteen… “sailors” in swimsuits!
These associations called on the authorities to intervene to prevent this invasion: unfortunately, the “Royale” is not what it used to be, otherwise, one could have imagined a beautiful naval battle like in the good old days.
Within 48 hours, we witnessed calls for citizen defense and a petition.
And then, latest news, the “identitarians” will not come, admitting they never intended to. No naval battle in the azure waters for the regret of those who, one imagines, were numerous and would have gladly watched the spectacle.
And yes, the holidays end and the crew demobilizes from Malta, their last “refuge.”
The defenders of Nice of their sacred land could thus give the order to demobilize… and tell themselves that it is thanks to their merit that…
Democratic vigilance is good, but not fantasizing is even better, isn’t it?
Because, if we go too far, we risk falling into paranoia.
