This Sunday at 2 PM, at Place Garibaldi, a demonstration will be held against “the permanent state of emergency,” called upon by ADN, ATTAC 06, Habitat & Citizenship, LDH, MRAP 06, Peace Movement, resf 06, Roya-Citoyenne, Solidaires 06, Tous Citoyens.
Implemented under the previous government following acts of terrorism, renewed until November, for the dissenters, “under the pretext of ending it, the Macron government is presenting a bill that incorporates the main measures of the state of emergency into common law. It would thus establish a permanent state of emergency.“
This bill is being examined under an accelerated procedure; it was discussed on July 18 and 19 in the Senate and will proceed to the Assembly in September.
The slogans vary greatly:
They range from “Let’s not accept the undermining of judicial guarantees!” to “No to breaking away from the rule of law and the separation of powers!” and finally, “Let’s not tolerate the shift to arbitrariness and the restriction of our individual and collective freedoms!”
Conclusion: “Against the establishment of a permanent state of emergency! For our rights and our freedoms! Let’s demonstrate all over France!”
Will they be followed by the public, or will they just be fiery splinter groups? The answer will come this afternoon.
