The elected officials and sports administrative leaders of the local authorities held their General Assembly yesterday at the CUM.
They were received by the two presidents, Christian Estrosi for Nice and the Metropolis, and Charles-Ange Ginesy on behalf of the Departmental Council.
Both emphasized the importance of sports in the region and the role of local authorities in promoting sports practice and hosting top events.
According to Charles-Ange Ginesy: ‘Sport is an excellent vehicle for boosting the image of the Côte d’Azur and the Alpes-Maritimes Department. With its extremely dense sports association network, our department has many assets to become a leading territory in the field of sports’.
As an elected representative of the high country, his heart still beats for snow sports: ‘Today, our winter sports resorts are transforming into mountain resorts with new activities: mountain biking, hiking, etc.’
Christian Estrosi remained pragmatic: ‘This week, we submitted the application to @ReseauAndes to obtain the active and sporty city label’.
Note the presence of Bernard Lapasset, former president of the French Rugby Federation and president of the International Federation, but above all, co-president of the Paris 2024 bid committee and honorary president of the 2024 Olympics organizing committee. It was also an opportunity to renew the governing bodies of the association, which brings together nearly 400 members, half of whom participated in the events of these two days in Nice.
No surprises when the ballots were opened: Marc Sanchez, mayor of Lannemezan, was re-elected. He will be supported in his role by General Secretary Franck Tison and Treasurer Michel Campion.
