This evening, as part of the 36th day of the Magnus League, the Eagles faced off against the Red Devils at home. After a defeat on Friday in Chamonix, the Nice players needed to climb the rankings to avoid the Play Out.
The Nice team emerged determined from the defeat against the Pioneers, and they had no intention of conceding victory. From the first period, the tone was set, and both teams wanted to battle it out. But it was the Eagles who took advantage of the situation. In the 7th minute, Frantisek Stolc’s men opened the scoring. Luka Kalan scored, assisted by Ondrej Kopta and Radek Cip. The Briançon players did not let themselves be discouraged, and they waited no time to equalize. Five minutes later, Yevgeni Nikiforov gave his team the lead again by scoring a goal with a numerical advantage. The first period ended with a score of (2 – 1) in favor of the Eagles.
A second period in favor of the Eagles
The Red Devils returned from the break energized, and the second period promised to be more challenging for the Eagles. Despite the difficulty, Louis Vitou scored the third goal for Nice after 33 minutes of play. The opponents did not give up, and two minutes later, Dimitri Thillet scored the second goal for his team. The Eagles maintained a slight lead during this period, which ended with a score of (3 – 2).
The Nice team distances themselves from the Briançonnais
After the second half, Briançon took advantage of the Eagles’ inattention, scored, and equalized. An action that did not sit well with the Nice team, and they made it known. The Slovenian player Luka Kalan scored a double. Five minutes later, the opposing team pulled their goalie, and Louis Belisle naturally took advantage of the situation and scored the fifth goal with ease. To ensure they emerged victorious from this match, Norbert Abramov added the sixth and final goal of the game. After three consecutive defeats, Nice returns to victory (6-3).
