The exclusion of ministers and parliamentarians who have rallied around Emmanuel Macron from Les Républicains will mark the kickoff of a new party or political movement that would bring together the Constructifs, the Audacieux, and the centrist UDI?
Nothing has been announced or finalized, but behind the scenes, things are moving…
Christian Estrosi’s statement, the leader of the Audacieux, after the meeting of the LR political bureau, which barely saw the participation of thirty “guillotiners” and supporters of Laurent Wauquiez (with representatives of other internal factions absent), cannot go without consequences:
“The party @lesRepublicains tonight brings shame to the values of Gaullism and unity. Poor show of force for a party that so desperately lacks it.”
If we add that Marine Brenier, known for her closeness with her mentor, has declared her support for the Juppeist Maël de Calan, moderate right, against Laurent Wauquiez, hard right, in the race for the party presidency, it is clear that the fire smolders beneath the ashes.
To complete the snapshot of changes: the radicals (Valoisien and left) will merge after several decades of separation.
Components of the UDI, they are part of the battalion that is macro-compatible.
In fact, all the ingredients are in place for a new moderate right and center party, which would clarify the landscape of the now “republican” right, which no longer has a single political line, but many sensibilities and even more candidates (official or unofficial) vying for leadership.
