On Thursday evening, Nice will take part in the fourth edition of the National Night of Solidarity. This operation aims to count homeless people to better adapt social and emergency support systems.
On Thursday evening, 200 people will be on the ground in Nice for the National Night of Solidarity. Social workers, municipal agents, and association volunteers will join forces to meet with homeless people. The goal is clear: to better understand their profiles and needs to improve social and emergency responses.
The teams, spread throughout the city, will use a questionnaire designed to facilitate interaction. The data collected will remain anonymous and will be forwarded to the Nice Communal Social Action Center (CCAS), before being analyzed on a national level.
At the same time, participants will distribute cookies, water, and a leaflet with practical information to the people they meet. Although the main objective is not to provide immediate aid, any emergency situations identified will be reported.
Associations at the Heart of this Day
This initiative is part of a multi-partner dynamic. It is supported by the Interministerial Delegation for Accommodation and Access to Housing (DIHAL) and coordinated locally with associations such as Secours Populaire, the Red Cross, and Restos du Cลur.
For the operation’s organizers, the National Night of Solidarity is also an opportunity to strengthen collaboration among the city’s social actors. “It is a key moment to shed light on the reality of severe poverty and to act in a concerted manner,” stresses a member of the CCAS.
The results of this night will be used to adapt social systems. It is seen as a way to guide local and national public policies. This approach aims to better address the needs of people in extreme exclusion, who are often invisible in official statistics.
By participating for the fourth consecutive year, Nice reaffirms its commitment to taking concrete action in the face of this human and social challenge.
