In the Alpes-Maritimes in 2015, 11 women were killed, making it, unfortunately, the department with the highest number of femicides.
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the specialized teams at the Nice University Hospital (CHU) want to remind everyone that they offer comprehensive and structured support to help women who are victims of domestic violence.
Emergency doctors, forensic specialists, gynecologists, and midwives have thus decided to leverage their experience and expertise to propose an approach aimed at identifying situations of violence to better report and address them comprehensively.
Some alarming figures:
In France, every year
 86,000 women are victims of rape or attempted rape. In nearly one out of three cases, the perpetrator is the victim’s partner.
 216,000 women are victims of physical and/or sexual domestic violence. Half of them do not take any steps to seek help, only a quarter consult a doctor, and less than 20% of them go to the police.
ï‚· 53,000 women aged 18 and over have suffered some form of sexual mutilation.
ï‚· 1 woman dies every 3 days due to domestic violence.
