Latest News

During the press conference Cรดte dโ€™Azur France Tourism โ€œSummer Season Perspectives 2025,โ€ the president of the Alpes-Maritimes department, Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, and the president of Cรดte dโ€™Azur France Tourism, Alexandra Borchio Fontimp, presented the summer prospects. Indicators are on the rise, driven by a strong increase in international visitors.

As the high season approaches, the Cรดte dโ€™Azur shows a particularly positive tourism dynamic. Initiated by the Alpes-Maritimes department and the Regional Tourism Committee Cรดte dโ€™Azur France, the first results for attendance predict an encouraging summer, both on the coastline and in the hinterland.

Hotel Occupancy and Seasonal Rentals on the Rise

The hotel occupancy rate on the azure coast reached 80% in May, a stable level compared to 2024 but up four points compared to 2023. In June, this rate rose to 85%, one point higher than the previous year.

Bookings recorded for the months of July and August confirm this trend: +3 points compared to the same period in 2024. The medium and high country also benefits from renewed interest, with an increase of two points, reflecting growing attraction for nature stays and hinterland villages.

The market for furnished rentals between individuals, like Airbnb, is also experiencing good dynamics. In May, the occupancy rate was 65%. A stable figure compared to 2024, but with a significant increase in supply (+11%), indicating sustained demand. In June, this same rate reached 64%, a two-point increase.

Before the launch of summer vacations, a slight decrease of one point is observed in bookings compared to the previous year. However, professionals remain confident in the ability to catch up as the major departures approach.

The Return of International Clients

The Cรดte dโ€™Azur is also benefiting from a strong resurgence of international interest. Between May and June, air arrivals of foreign visitors increased by 7.5%. The most dynamic markets are Southern Europe (+20%), the Middle East (+17%), and North America (+10%).

The trend is expected to intensify for July-August, with a forecasted increase of 11% in international flights. Northeast Asia showed a spectacular 38% increase, marking the return of Asian clientele. Oceania (+18%), Western Europe (+10%), and Southern Europe (+9%) confirm this trend.

Another performance indicator: the average daily spending of visitors. It now exceeds โ‚ฌ120, driven by a foreign clientele with strong purchasing power. For comparison, a French tourist spends an average of โ‚ฌ75 per day.

This sustained consumption directly contributes to the local economy, reinforcing the strategic importance of the tourism sector for the department.
