This afternoon, the “Artisans Confiance Seniors” label was launched at the Maison de lโartisanat et du commerce. It will enable Nice’s seniors to be supported by a competent network of local artisans.
During the City Council on May 23rd, the City of Nice, holder of the Gold label “Age-Friendly City”, approved a resolution establishing a partnership agreement with the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of the Alpes-Maritimes. The goal? To create the “Artisans Confiance Seniors” scheme, aimed at seniors, to protect this vulnerable group from potential unfair practices.
A network of trusted artisans
There are 17 listed. A pool of mobilized artisans, formed on a voluntary basis, after a rigorous selection among professionals already registered with the Chamber of Trades and Crafts. They all provide various and diverse services: plumbing, electricity, home automation, air conditioning, locksmithingโฆ Most of them are able to cover the important sectors of Nice.
“We have an approved list of artisans whom you may need for a number of quite simple things. They are all qualified because they are certified by the Chamber of Trades and Crafts“, assures Anthony Borrรฉ. A provisional list that the Deputy Mayor does not rule out expanding.
He also invites artisans and seniors wishing to fully engage in the project development through the platform “jeparticipe.nice.fr“.
Avoiding unpleasant surprises
In Nice, 121,000 people are 55 years or older, of which 42,000 are 75 years or older. Among them, 32,000 live alone and many lose autonomy and often face complex domestic tasks. Consequently, some unscrupulous professionals take advantage of this by offering unnecessary services at excessive prices, especially with forced sales of products inappropriate to their needs.
Gilles Dutto, president of the Chamber of Trades and Crafts of Alpes-Maritimes, promises a quality service: “what we offer with Artisans Confiance Seniors is much more than a service, it is an outstretched hand, a link between committed professionals and citizens who need it. These local artisans are sensitized in an ethical approach that involves respect, listening, and kindness.“
The same sentiment is echoed by Jennifer Salles, Deputy for seniors and solidarities: “often, a professional sees that they have a deal and may sometimes be very eager and take advantage of the weakness of the person who is hiring them. We guarantee this relationship between the artisan and the senior who will seek assistance to live under better conditions. These are small things of daily life but significantly impact people’s lives. This label is a guarantee of trust for our seniors.“
