A new sports complex inaugurated on the roof of the Super U in Caucade!

This morning, Mayor Christian Estrosi inaugurated the sports complex in the Caucade neighborhood. Beyond the opening of the Super U store and the 60 jobs created, the brand stands out with an unprecedented sports complex installed on its roof, open to the neighborhood residents.

The Caucade neighborhood is experiencing a new momentum with the opening of its new sports complex located on the roof of the Super U. The new complex was fully inaugurated this morning in the presence of Mayor Christian Estrosi. The event brought together elected officials, executives of the brand, and residents who came in large numbers to discover the site.

A sports field moved to the roof

The Super U was built on the neighborhood’s former sports field. To avoid depriving residents of this space, new facilities have been set up on the store’s roof. The complex includes two basketball and handball courts as well as an athletics track. Managed by the municipality, it will be used starting the next school term for students’ sports activities.

Outside school hours, the site is open to everyone: every day from 5 PM to 9 PM, and on weekends from 9 AM to 6 PM.

These infrastructures are therefore intended to welcome clubs, schools, and local residents, enhancing the neighborhood’s attractiveness. โ€œWe have carried out this project in an extraordinary way. It’s a model of proximityโ€, emphasized Christian Estrosi during his speech.

The president of the Bourassin Super U/U Express group, Clรฉment Bourassin, stressed this dual ambition: โ€œthis is the start of a new era for Caucade. With a parking lot of 200 spaces and a drive-thru with four lanes, we wanted to become a meeting point in the neighborhood.โ€

Sixty additional jobs and a project for the neighborhood

In parallel, the supermarket marks a leap in staff: from 50 employees previously at U Express, the team now consists of 110 employees, adding 60 jobs. This increase reflects the intention to develop a broader offer while strengthening the local economy.

On the residentsโ€™ side, the initiative has received a positive reception. โ€œ It’s a very good idea, especially for the young people. The neighborhood lacked spaces like these, confides Marie, a resident of Caucade. We can see things are moving, and it feels goodโ€.
