The match of the 9th day of Ligue 1 between OGC Nice and Stade Rennais is officially moved forward to Friday, October 30 at 7 p.m. Originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, the match changes its programming due to demonstrations announced in the Alpes-Maritimes and the mobilization of law enforcement necessary to ensure the safety of gatherings.
After two away trips to Lyon and then Brest, OGC Nice will return to the Allianz Riviera to host Stade Rennais. The match, counting for the 9th day of Ligue 1, was initially scheduled for Saturday, October 31 at 5:15 p.m. The match will finally take place on Friday, October 30 at 7 p.m.
This change in programming responds to security requirements. Demonstrations are announced for Saturday in the region, which must lead to significant mobilization of law enforcement. The Alpes-Maritimes prefecture thus wishes to free up human resources to oversee gatherings and allow security services to focus on their management.
Organizing a Ligue 1 match also requires the mobilization of police officers and gendarmes to secure the surroundings of the stadium, oversee supporter movements, and prevent incidents. Maintaining the match on Saturday would therefore have involved distributing personnel across multiple security operations during the same day.
To limit these constraints, the programming of the match between the Eagles and the Bretons has been modified. Moving it to Friday reduces the conflict between organizing the match and law and order operations planned for the following day.
Supporters already holding tickets will be able to attend the match on the new date. Access tickets remain valid, even if Saturday, October 31 still appears on them. For any questions concerning ticketing, the club can be reached at billetterie@ogcnice.com.
Stade Rennais’s schedule in Europa League must also change. The match against Olympiacos, counting for the fourth day of the competition, should be moved forward to Wednesday, November 4 due to a labor movement planned for Thursday, November 5. The time for this match remains to be determined.
