On the occasion of the 2025 university start, the Family Allowance Fund (CAF) of Alpes-Maritimes is strengthening its presence among young people. Advice, administrative support, and appointments on campuses are being set up until January 2026.
The start of the academic year marks for many young people a step towards independence. First housing, first jobs, administrative procedures: the transition to adult life often requires support. The Family Allowance Fund (CAF) of Alpes-Maritimes is announcing a scheme to address these needs. Its advisors will meet students at events organized in September and hold offices on several campuses in the department.
The scheme is aimed at 16-25 year-olds, whether they are high school students, apprentices, university students, or young workers. Students can thus obtain information on their rights and on the procedures to follow to benefit from housing assistance or other social benefits. Advisors also explain the methods of tracking applications and guide them to relevant services if necessary.
Presence at start-of-term events
In September, CAF will be present at several events organized in the department. Among them are “Le Before de ta rentrรฉe” in Nice and the “Vidage de rentrรฉe รฉtudiante” in Cannes La Bocca. Other dates are scheduled in Grasse and Sophia-Antipolis. These events are designed as moments of interaction where students can learn about various existing schemes, discover institutional or associative partners, and ask their questions.
Beyond mere presence, these times allow for direct first contact with CAF advisors. The aim is to create a close relationship and facilitate access to information right at the beginning of the academic year.
From September 8, 2025, until January 30, 2026, offices will be held in several institutions. This service is offered in partnership with Crous Nice-Toulon. The campuses involved are those in Cannes, Grasse, Nice, and Sophia-Antipolis. The list of events is available here.
Appointments can be made through Crous’s online platform. This organization aims to streamline the reception and allow each student to have personalized exchanges with an advisor. Topics discussed range from student housing to financial aid, including explanations of the different administrative procedures to carry out with CAF.
A path dedicated to students and apprentices
In addition to these physical meetings, CAF Alpes-Maritimes provides practical supports. An online pathway titled โI am a student or apprenticeโ collects essential information regarding possible aids and support. This document is accessible on the site caf.fr, alongside a downloadable flyer.
These tools allow young people to quickly identify benefits they may be eligible for and better understand the steps to follow to complete an application. The aim is to offer clear and centralized information, accessible at any time.
CAF Alpes-Maritimes is part of the Family branch of Social Security. Its action goes beyond just the student scope: it supports families through all stages of life, from early childhood to parenting, and intervenes in the areas of housing, youth, and fighting poverty.
By the end of 2024, the organization was supporting 217,657 families in the department, representing nearly 486,300 individuals. Its role is twofold: to manage and disburse social benefits and provide close support to users.
The start of the university year remains a sensitive time for young people. Between finding housing, tight budgets, and multiple procedures, the period can be a source of difficulties. By offering direct support and setting up in the heart of campuses, CAF Alpes-Maritimes aims to make these steps easier.
