Jules Bianchi Karting Marathon: a 10th edition marked by emotion and solidarity

Latest News

From September 12 to 14, 2025, the Circuit Paul Ricard hosted the Jules Bianchi Karting Marathon. Thirty-five crews and nearly 500 drivers took turns for over 42 hours for a sports challenge and a tribute to the late driver. The event raised 50,000 euros for the Jules Bianchi Association.

The start was given on Friday evening, precisely at 7:41 p.m., under a clear sky. As every year, the event’s atypical duration left a mark: 42 hours, 19 minutes, and 50 seconds of uninterrupted driving. A demanding mechanic that tested the strategy and endurance of the 35 teams involved.

Each kart, a 270cc four-stroke, could reach 90 km/h. Behind the wheel, mandatory relay shifts paced the race, with between five and twenty drivers per team. Pit stops happened in quick succession, as did changes in track conditions. After a sunny first day, rain appeared on Saturday, adding an extra challenge.

On Sunday at 2 p.m., Jean Alesi celebrated the end of this 10th edition. The former Formula 1 driver paid tribute to Jules Bianchi, who passed away in 2015, and recalled the purpose of this gathering: bringing together enthusiasts, professionals, and families in a spirit of solidarity.

Philippe Bianchi, organizer of the event and Jules’ father, emphasized the significance of this event: โ€œIt is a great pride to see this enthusiasm growing year after year. Jules lives on in these moments of sharing, passion, and solidarity.โ€

Between Competition and Tribute

This year’s field brought together nearly 500 drivers. Amateurs, licensed drivers, and celebrities shared the track in a unique atmosphere. Benjamin Biolay, Camille Lacourt, Arnaud Tsamรจre, Catherine Davydzenka, and Stรฉphane Blancafort were present. Some, like footballer Peter Luccin or influencer Idreau, discovered the event, while others had already participated several times.

Charles Leclerc, sponsor of the Jules Bianchi Association, was absent for family reasons but addressed the participants in a video message. โ€œThrough this marathon, it’s the spirit of Jules that we keep alive: fighting spirit, generosity, and self-improvement,โ€ he declared. The Monegasque driver promised to return in 2026 to participate in the 11th edition.

The special atmosphere was also felt in the paddocks and among the families who came to support the teams. The WebTV set up this year allowed for live coverage of the relays, hosted by Lionel Chamouleau and Marie Caizz. Regular interviews gave voice to the drivers, organizers, and volunteers, strengthening the sense of closeness with the public.

50,000 euros for the Jules Bianchi Association

Beyond sports, the event maintains a strong solidarity mission. Created by Philippe and Christine Bianchi, the Jules Bianchi Association funds research on severe brain injuries and supports l’Archet Hospital in Nice.

At the opening press conference, Philippe Bianchi reminded everyone of the commitment’s significance: โ€œWhen you experience this kind of event and have the chance to have a son who is known, loved, and has impacted people, you feel the need to do something. (โ€ฆ) We support l’Archet Hospital in Nice thanks to the numerous actions we carry out, and once again, we will be able to donate 50,000 euros after this event. This allows us to help the hospital and continue to keep Jules alive.โ€

Since its creation, the association has provided several concrete aids, including specialized medical equipment to improve patient care. The sum raised this weekend will further strengthen these actions.

Ten years after the passing of Jules Bianchi, the event continues to gather people. The Karting Marathon carries a dual legacy: that of a unique sports challenge and of a tribute to a driver appreciated by the public and respected in the paddock.

The success of this 10th edition confirms the special place of this event in the French sports landscape. It also shows that a project born from a tragedy can become a unifying event, capable of combining competition, friendliness, and solidarity.

The next edition has already been announced. It will take place from October 2 to 4, 2026, once again at the Circuit Paul Ricard. The spirit of Jules will continue to hover over the track and in the hearts of those who come to race for him.
