Nice mobilizes for Pink October

Latest News

Every October, the Pink October campaign highlights the importance of early breast cancer detection and prevention. In Nice, several events are scheduled from October 4 to 16, 2025.

The first phase will take place on Saturday, October 4. A conference will be held at the Garibaldi House of Associations focusing on the link between the environment and breast cancer. Professor Patrick Fรฉnichel will discuss risks associated with chemical pollution and offer strategies to reduce exposure. A practical workshop led by the Sea and Mountain Discovery Center will then provide concrete tips for changing certain daily habits. Admission is free, but reservations are required.

On Sunday, October 5, downtown will host the Pink Jogging and Walk. From the morning, the Thรฉรขtre de Verdure will be the gathering point for participants. Two routes are planned: a 7.2-kilometer run and a five-kilometer walk. Group warm-ups, music, and activities will punctuate the morning. The event aims to bring together seasoned athletes and casual walkers for a common goal: to advance awareness of screening. Registration is mandatory, and there are few spots left!

The program will continue on Tuesday, October 7 with a guided tour part of the Actiโ€™Santรฉ initiative. On a 3.6-kilometer route, participants will alternate between physical exercises and heritage discovery. This free activity emphasizes the benefits of regular exercise on health. Registration is mandatory due to the limited number of spots. To register, you can send an email to sportsante@ville-nice.fr or call 06.13.05.35.73.

Finally, on Thursday, October 16, the Delvalle Medical House will offer a workshop focused on self-examination. Participants can learn about the importance of screening and discover the right techniques. The workshop, led by Dr. Gautier from the Regional Coordination Center for Screenings, will be followed by a discussion over coffee. Registration can be done via email at asv@ville-nice.fr or by phone at 06.92 17 44 86.

Throughout the month, the city will also be adorned in pink. The City Hall, the Square Head, and the Phoenix Park will be illuminated. At Place Massรฉna, a giant ribbon will remind passersby of the campaign’s central message.

A Collective and Local Commitment

These initiatives aim to remind us that breast cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death among women. In France, the number of new cases continues to rise, including among women under 50. Yet, some of these cancers could be prevented through prevention and detected earlier through screening.

Pink October is not limited to one-off awareness. It is a time of mobilisation to encourage simple yet essential actions: participating in organized screenings, regularly consulting with doctors, and staying mindful of any bodily changes. Prevention also involves improving quality of life, maintaining a balanced diet, and engaging in regular physical activity.

In Nice, the variety of proposed activities aims to reach a broad audience. Conferences appeal to those seeking better scientific understanding. Jogging and walking unite people through friendly activities. The practical workshop provides concrete tools to participants. The illuminations serve as a daily reminder of the message, even to those who do not directly participate in the events.

The Pink October 2025 program in Nice reflects a clear intent: to combine information, action, and sharing so everyone can better understand and deal with breast cancer.
