Alain Bashung takes the stage. Slowly, head held high, hat firmly on his head, behind his opaque glasses, he settles onto his stool. He approaches the microphone and begins to sing. The voice of always, that of a recognized artist, admired and admirable, rises. A long song, endless and incessant but one we do not want to see cease. “Like a Lego” with these lyrics: The lens of a microscope, we look, we look, we look inside. We see very small things that shine. These are people in shirts like during these centuries of the long night in silence or in noise. In the Gardens of Cimiez, what shines is Alain Bashung.
We are spellbound, lulled between the desire to close our eyes and forget Alain Bashung’s illness and the desire to observe his courage and his determination to give his best. The emotion grows with each song. He performs his latest album “Blue Petroleum.” The lyrics and words carried by Alain the magnificent’s voice penetrate our minds and invade our thoughts. We are saturated by them. These moments are engraved. The instant freezes. Unforgettable.
Katia Goldmann smiles, dances, jokes and sings and manipulates plenty of instruments. The Nice native was destined to become a lawyer. She became a singer. And everyone who gathered in front of the Matisse Stage is delighted by it. Katia has energy to spare. Her songs are autobiographical but resemble us. We make them our own. And then, the magic happens. We too want to smile, dance, joke, sing and manipulate plenty of instruments!
A duo with Hubert Félix Thiéfaine and Paul Personne. How did we not think of it before? Paul, one of the best French guitarists, and Hubert Félix, a poetic and original lyricist. They are complicit on stage. They play together, share their pleasure. And it’s contagious! The Arenas were packed. A very rock universe. The two corsairs with their almost-sixty-year-old faces pirated the atmosphere of Cimiez. Without a glitch and with a mug of beer, the evening was definitely underway while awaiting the Bashung emotion.
