The mobilization of Alpes-Maritimes voters for the second round of the 2026 municipal elections is beginning to take shape with the publication of the first participation report of the day. According to the prefecture, participation at 12 noon stands at 20.66% in the department, an indicator equivalent to that observed at the national level (20.33%). This figure at the departmental level is up in the Alpes-Maritimes compared to the second round of the municipal elections in 2014 (12.15%) and 2020 (18.00%).
As a reminder, in the first round, participation reached 15.86% at noon in the Alpes-Maritimes, a level higher than that recorded in 2020, when only 13.87% of voters had turned out at the same time.
At the national level, voter turnout was 19.37%, nearly four points higher than in the department. The contrast remained marked compared to 2014, the year when participation peaked at 24.58% at midday. More recent benchmarks from national elections confirmed an intermediate trend, with 23.34% in the first round of the 2024 legislative elections and 18.74% in the 2024 European elections.
These figures, which will be refined by the 5 p.m. count, already provide an initial indication of voter commitment for this second round.
