Open-air cinema is making its return to Nice this Friday, June 19th. Until August 26th, 20 free screenings are scheduled in the city’s neighborhoods. The Cinémathèque of Nice is also offering four evenings at Nice Port.
Kickoff this Friday at Ray Park
The 2026 open-air cinema season begins this Friday, June 19th in Nice. Until August 26th, the city of Nice is organizing 20 free screenings throughout all neighborhoods. Screenings will start at 9:30 PM and admission will remain free for as long as seats are available.
The first event is scheduled this Friday at Ray Park with the screening of Wonka by Paul King. The next day, Daudet Square will host The Count of Monte-Cristo by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte.
Programming will continue throughout the summer at various sites in the city, including Spirited Away, Asterix: Mission Cleopatra, The Wild Robot, Shrek 4, Un p’tit truc en plus, Gladiator, Madagascar, and Mamma Mia!
Four events at Nice Port with the Cinémathèque
The Cinémathèque of Nice is accompanying this edition with four screenings organized on the Customs esplanade at Nice Port.
On Wednesday, July 22nd, To Catch a Thief by Alfred Hitchcock will be screened in the original version with French subtitles on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier’s wedding.
On Wednesday, July 29th, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes by Howard Hawks will mark the centennial of Marilyn Monroe.
On Wednesday, August 19th, Persepolis will pay tribute to Marjane Satrapi.
Finally, on Wednesday, August 26th, The Man from Rio by Philippe de Broca will close the Port programming with a tribute to Jean-Paul Belmondo.
From the coast to the hills, this new edition of open-air cinema will allow Nice residents and visitors to enjoy free screenings at several locations throughout the city during the summer.
