Electric car: Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis opens 86 new public charging points

Following the shutdown of the Mobilize Share car-sharing service, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is reallocating 86 charging points from the PrisedeNice network. This change increases by 20% the number of public charging stations accessible to electric vehicle drivers.

The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis is upgrading the electric charging network PrisedeNice. Since July 17, 2026, 86 charging points previously reserved for the Mobilize Share car-sharing service are now accessible to all electric vehicle users.

This reorganization follows the withdrawal, on June 30, 2026, of the electric vehicle fleet operated since 2019 by the Mobilize Share service, a subsidiary of the Renault group. The charging stations concerned were exclusively dedicated to this activity. A reconfiguration has allowed public access in order to expand charging capacity across the metropolitan area.

In Nice, this decision results in 80 additional charging points, representing an increase of 20% in available public supply. The Metropolis aims to respond to the growing number of electric vehicles in circulation and reduce access times to charging infrastructure. Its charging network consists of nearly 600 charging points, including about 300 stations distributed throughout for “slow” charging.The Alpes-Maritimes department is indeed one of the best equipped in terms of the number of charging points.

Enhanced supply in several areas of Nice

The new charging points are distributed across several busy areas of the city. Drivers will now find more charging stations on the Promenade des Anglais, in the Nice West area, around the Port of Nice and Old Town Nice, as well as in the city center, the Musicians neighborhood, near Nice-Ville station, Gare du Sud station, and in the Nice North area, around Boulevard de Cessole and Place Alexandre-Médecin.

The PrisedeNice network remains accessible in other municipalities of the Metropolis. Two new charging points are now available in Villefranche-sur-Mer, Avenue du Général-de-Gaulle, two others in Carros, Roure station, and two in Cagnes-sur-Mer, Bir-Hakeim station.

The network’s charging stations allow electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids to recharge with power reaching up to 22 kW. Some stations also offer fast charging up to 50 kW. The equipment is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with the exception of installations located in Lignes d’Azur park-and-ride lots. Access can be made with a subscriber badge or on an ad-hoc basis through payment by bank card after scanning the QR code present on each station.

As a reminder, prices vary on this type of station. You should expect between €1.75 and €6 per hour during the day depending on the time spent on a 22kW power station between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. (€1.75 for one hour of charging, €2.50/hour for up to three hours of charging, €4/hour between three and five hours of charging, and €6/hour beyond five hours of charging, Editor’s note). Outside these hours (8 p.m. to 8 a.m.), charging costs only €1/hour (with a cap of €5, or five hours of authorized charging – watch out for overcharges if you don’t disconnect beyond this time, Editor’s note). Payment can be made via the bank card payment terminal, with an RFID charging badge, or via the PrisedeNice network mobile app.

The network’s usage continues to grow. Over 410,000 charging sessions have been recorded since 2025. The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis indicates that this trend is continuing since the start of 2026, driven by the development of electric mobility across the territory. At the national level, the charging station deployment plan aims to exceed 200,000 available charging points in France by the end of the year.
