To meet the needs of associations during the summer period, Université Côte d’Azur invites students to participate in volunteer missions. Support for the elderly, assistance to agriculture or combating precariousness are among the actions offered through the Engagement Center.
Summer marks a period when many associations are looking for reinforcements. Faced with this situation, Université Côte d’Azur mobilizes students through its Engagement Center. The objective is to support the most vulnerable populations while allowing participants to gain practical experience.
Several missions are offered during the holidays. Students can support elderly people facing extreme heat, in partnership with municipal social action centers (CCAS). Other actions concern support for local agricultural operations, particularly in Belvédère, in the Vésubie valley. Volunteers thus participate in the maintenance or resumption of agricultural land cultivation and the establishment of new farms.
The program also includes actions to combat social and digital precariousness, through support missions with affected individuals.
All these missions are accessible from the Engagement Center platform. Participation of at least 20 hours allows you to validate the Engagement Bonus from the following semester.
Over 150 missions offered throughout the year
Created as part of the Excellence Initiative label (IdEx), the Engagement Center values the civic engagement of students in initial training. The program rewards students who devote at least 20 hours to a volunteer or civic activity with an Engagement Bonus of 0.25 points on the semester average.
Beyond this academic recognition, the missions allow students to develop sought-after skills, such as adaptability, collective organization, initiative or creativity. Each semester, approximately 900 students benefit from this bonus.
The Engagement Center offers over 150 missions each year with local and national partners. Students can in particular participate in outreach activities or actions carried out in solidarity grocery stores, contribute to coastal cleanup, raise awareness about waste sorting or support students through tutoring and civic events.
