American Airlines will open a new direct link between Nice Côte d’Azur airport and New York JFK from May 6, 2027. The flight will be daily and operated on an Airbus A321XLR.
A new transatlantic link is being prepared from Nice airport. American Airlines will launch, from May 6, 2027, a daily direct flight between Nice and New York JFK. This new route will be the company’s second link departing from the Côte d’Azur, after Nice-Philadelphia, opened in 2024.
The route will be operated by an Airbus A321XLR with 155 seats. American Airlines will be the first American airline to deploy this aircraft on this type of link. The cabin will have 20 Flagship Suite® seats, 12 Premium Economy seats and 123 main cabin seats.
Four direct links between Nice and New York
With this new Nice-New York JFK flight, Nice Côte d’Azur airport will have four direct links to New York. The airport will also have eight links to the United States and ten long-haul flights to North America.
For Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Côte d’Azur airports, this opening reflects growing exchanges between the Côte d’Azur and the North American market. « The launch of this new link between Nice and New York (JFK) by American Airlines testifies not only to the growing attractiveness of the North American market for the Côte d’Azur, but also to the airline’s renewed confidence, which already operates a link between Nice and Philadelphia since 2024. More than ever, our mission remains to connect our territory directly and sustainably to the world’s major capitals »
On American Airlines’ side, José A. Freig, Vice President of International Operations and Commercial Partnerships, also highlights the reception given to the first link to Nice: « Since the launch of our first link to Nice in 2024, our customers’ feedback has been extremely positive. By adding a second flight to the Côte d’Azur, we offer even more opportunities for those long-awaited summer getaways. We are also delighted to extend the deployment of our new Airbus A321XLR, which will enter service in summer 2026, to provide our customers with an enhanced flight experience during their Atlantic crossing. »
The Airbus A321XLR will also have high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity and a free entertainment system with Bluetooth connectivity.
This new link comes as the transatlantic offering from Nice continues to expand. United Airlines serves Washington Dulles since 2025, while Delta Air Lines opened a link to Boston in May 2026. The company has also extended its Nice-New York Newark link for the winter 2026/2027 season.
The expansion of Terminal 2 at Nice Côte d’Azur airport, inaugurated in April 2026, accompanies this development. The project added 23,058 m², six gates and 36 check-in desks. The airport’s annual capacity thus increases from 14 to 18 million passengers.
