It is a complicated day for motorists on the A8 motorway. Following an accident involving two heavy goods vehicles in Roquebrune-sur-Argens in the morning, a vehicle is now on fire on the A8, heading towards Italy, after exit no. 55 Nice Centre.
The emergency response has been underway since 5:30 p.m. Traffic is completely cut off in the area. Exit no. 55 Nice East is mandatory. As traffic is cut off after this exit due to the fire, vehicles must leave the motorway at this point.
Conversely, entry onto the A8 from exit no. 55 Nice East is prohibited. Motorists who wish to join the motorway at this point cannot therefore access it heading towards Italy.
Exit no. 54 Nice North is also recommended to avoid the disrupted area. For motorists driving on the A8 towards Italy, exit no. 55 Nice East is mandatory. As traffic is cut off after this exit due to the fire, vehicles must leave the motorway at this point.

Emergency response teams are already deployed on site and are working to bring the fire under control. Motorists must therefore avoid the area and follow the instructions in place on the motorway network. Journey times are currently increased by 30 minutes.
An already disrupted day on the A8 towards Nice
Earlier this Monday, September 14, an accident involving two heavy goods vehicles occurred near Roquebrune-sur-Argens, in the Var, in the direction Aix-en-Provence-Nice. No injuries were reported.
The two trucks were carrying phytosanitary products in liquid form among other things. A team specializing in chemical hazards was mobilized to recover the products in question.
In total, 16 firefighters participated in the response, with two protection vehicles, a team specializing in chemical hazards and two command vehicles. The motorway service and the national gendarmerie were also involved alongside emergency services.
This accident had severely disrupted traffic on the A8 towards Nice. In the late afternoon, a new emergency response is now complicating traffic conditions on the motorway, this time near Nice and in the direction of Italy.
For the current incident, exit no. 55 Nice East is mandatory. Entry no. 55 Nice East is prohibited. Exit no. 54 Nice North is recommended and entry no. 54 Nice North is also prohibited until further notice.
