OGC Nice: Éric Cubilier succeeds Fabien Caballero in recruitment for the team

Already a member of OGC Nice’s recruitment cell since 2019, Éric Cubilier now takes on responsibility for recruiting the training center. This appointment comes after the departure of Fabien Caballero, announced Tuesday, September 22.

The sports organization of OGC Nice is evolving. Already a recruiter for the professional section since 2019, Éric Cubilier will now oversee the recruitment of young players destined to join the Eagles’ training center.

This new responsibility adds to the duties already carried out within the club’s recruitment cell. The stated objective is to strengthen the link between recruitment for the academy and that of the professional team, while further structuring the monitoring of young talents.

Éric Cubilier, 47 years old, is also well acquainted with Côte d’Azur football. Born in Nice on August 9, 1979, the former left-back began his professional career at OGC Nice in 1999. His playing career then took him to AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, RC Lens, FC Nantes, FC Metz, and SC Bastia.

After his playing career, Éric Cubilier turned to recruitment. Present within OGC Nice’s recruitment cell since 2019, the new role entrusted to him by the club now extends his scope to the training center.

Éric Cubilier takes over from Fabien Caballero

This appointment comes a few days after Fabien Caballero’s departure. Having arrived on the Côte d’Azur in early 2025, he held the position of assistant director of the training center in charge of youth recruitment.

On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, OGC Nice made this departure official. A decision made by mutual agreement as part of an internal reorganization of the sports department. Through an official statement, the club announced the end of this collaboration: “As part of a reorganization of its sports department, notably concerning the training center and the recruitment cell, OGC Nice and Fabien Caballero have decided, by mutual agreement, to end their collaboration.”

Having joined the club in early 2025, Fabien Caballero is leaving his position after just over a season and a half with OGC Nice.

With Éric Cubilier, the Gym now entrusts the recruitment of the academy to a member already integrated into its recruitment cell. The new organization should make it possible to bring the two departments closer together and strengthen the monitoring of high-potential profiles, in liaison with the Academy’s management.
