Through an official statement released this Tuesday, the Gym announced the end of this collaboration: « As part of a reorganization of its sports sector, notably concerning the training center and the recruitment unit, OGC Nice and Fabien Caballero have decided, by mutual agreement, to end their collaboration. »
A year and a half spent on the Côte d’Azur
Recruited on January 2, 2025 from Olympique Lyonnais, where he had built a solid reputation within a renowned academy, Fabien Caballero joined OGC Nice as deputy director of the training center, primarily responsible for recruiting young talent.
During his tenure of just over a year and a half on the Côte d’Azur, the executive actively contributed to the structuring and development of the Red and Black Academy. His departure comes as the club undertakes a comprehensive overhaul of its sports sector and scouting unit.
A sports sector undergoing full restructuring
Attracted by the OGC Nice project, Fabien Caballero had been chosen by management to become the right-hand man of Julien Sablé, the director of the Nice training center. Upon his arrival, Julien Sablé highlighted the coherence of their shared vision. This departure is part of a broader dynamic of restructuring the club’s sports policy, which wishes to adjust its scouting and development strategy for the coming seasons.
In its statement, the Gym took the opportunity to acknowledge the work accomplished by its former executive. « During his time at OGC Nice, he took part in the evolution of the Academy’s organization. OGC Nice thanks him for his commitment and wishes him well for the continuation of his career. »
