The jewelry store at the Leclerc Saint-Isidore shopping center in Nice was robbed during the night of Tuesday October 6 to Wednesday October 7. Three armed individuals threatened employees before stealing jewelry. One suspect was arrested by the BAC and placed in police custody. Two others are still being sought.
A robbery took place during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday around 11:45 PM at the jewelry store “Le Manège Ă Bijoux” in the Leclerc Saint-Isidore store, in Nice. Three armed individuals burst into the establishment while employees were still inside.
According to the prosecutor of the Republic of Nice, Damien Martinelli, employees were threatened and forced to the ground. The three individuals then headed toward the jewelry store. Jewelry “not stored in the safe” was then stolen. The amount of the loot is not yet known.
The intervention of the police quickly led to the recovery of some of the suspects. The anti-crime brigade (BAC) arrested one of the individuals, who was hooded and armed.
A suspect with prior convictions
The two other individuals managed to flee. A handgun was nevertheless found in a VTC vehicle, according to information communicated by the Nice prosecutor’s office.
“A very rapid intervention by the BAC made it possible to arrest one of the individuals, hooded and armed. The two others managed to flee but a handgun was found in a VTC vehicle”, indicated the prosecutor of the Republic of Nice, Damien Martinelli.
The arrested suspect was placed in police custody. The prosecutor’s office states that he had previously “been convicted of theft and criminal association.”
The two other individuals are still being actively sought. An investigation has been opened to determine the precise circumstances of the robbery and to identify the persons involved. The investigation has been entrusted to the local judicial police service (SLPJ) of the Alpes-Maritimes.
