Saturday, October 31, 2026, the departmental Jean-Paul Belmondo cinema, Garibaldi Square in Nice, celebrates Halloween. With “Ciné Frissons”, the Alpes-Maritimes Department offers a day of screenings featuring classic fantasy films, horror comedies and mystery films. Spectators are invited to come in costume.

Disturbing creatures, fantastic stories and a few surprises for those who love thrills: from 1:30 p.m., the Jean-Paul Belmondo cinema will welcome young and old alike for an edition of “Ciné Frissons” spread across three rooms. Candy and sweets are also announced for the occasion.

This programming extends the Halloween events already mentioned in our selection of All Saints’ Day 2025 outings.

Room 1: cult films to give you chills as a family

The first room brings together four works that navigate between dark humor, imagination and horror:

  • 2 p.m. – The Addams Family (1992), by Barry Sonnenfeld, in French, from 8 years old;
  • 4 p.m. – Spirited Away (2002), by Hayao Miyazaki, in French, from 10 years old;
  • 6:30 p.m. – Gremlins (1984), by Joe Dante, in French, from 11 years old;
  • 8:30 p.m. – Shaun of the Dead, by Edgar Wright, in original language with subtitles, not for under 12s and recommended from 16 years old.

Room 2: two curiosities from the Nice Cinémathèque

The second room features the “Les Improbables” programming from the Nice Cinémathèque, with two screenings in original language with subtitles:

  • 4:30 p.m. – Little Shop of Horrors (1986), by Frank Oz, from 10 years old;
  • 7:30 p.m. – Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), by Don Siegel, from 12 years old.

Room 3: four mystery screenings reserved for ages 16 and up

For the most daring spectators, the third room reserves four surprise films, whose titles will not be revealed in advance. The screenings, all in original language with subtitles, are scheduled at 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Warning: these screenings are not for under 16s and are limited to 25 people per screening.

A Halloween outing at a bargain price

Screenings in rooms 1 and 3 are offered at the special Halloween rate of 4 euros per person. For room 2, the usual Cinémathèque rate applies.
