Nissa Rugby and the Eagles of Nice found their way back to victory in front of their home crowd. Nice Volley-Ball also secured a win in three sets against Sète. The evening was more complicated for the Nice handball players, who were defeated by Brest despite a closely contested match.

Nice clubs experienced mixed fortunes on Friday, October 30. In Pro D2, Nissa Rugby dominated Aurillac (29-20) in the 9th round and regained their smile after two consecutive defeats. The same positive scenario for the Eagles of Nice, who defeated Angers (3-1) in Ligue Magnus after being quickly behind.

In volleyball, Nice Volley-Ball confirmed its good form by defeating Arago de Sète (3-0). On the other hand, the Nice handball players missed their objective against Brest. Despite strong resistance and a four-goal lead in the second half, the Nice players ultimately lost (36-32) in Ligue Butagaz Énergie.

Rugby: Nissa Rugby defeats Aurillac and regains their smile

At home, Nissa Rugby secured an important victory against Aurillac (29-20). Gareth Baber’s team took control of the match from the first period, with three tries scored by Adrian Motoc in the 13th minute, Hanru Sirgel in the 27th and Théo Idjellidaine in the 38th. At half-time, Nice led 21-10.

The Azur team continued their momentum after the break. Maxime Labadie scored a fourth try in the 52nd minute. Despite the Cantalians’ comeback, the Nice players maintained their advantage until the final whistle. This victory allows Nissa Rugby to come out of a difficult period in the Pro D2 standings (13th place), following defeats against Provence Rugby and Agen.

Ice Hockey: the Eagles of Nice upset Angers in Ligue Magnus

The Eagles of Nice also found success again. Against the Dukes of Angers at the Jean-Bouin ice rink, Marc-André Lévesque’s team triumphed (3-1) in the 9th round of Ligue Magnus.

Down from the first minute, the Nice players reacted quickly thanks to Alexandre Gagnon, who equalized at 5 minutes and 40 seconds of play. Henrik Rommel then gave the home side the lead at 30 minutes and 29 seconds. Despite Angers’ attempts, Nice held firm defensively.

Alexandre Gagnon ultimately scored his second goal of the evening with 39 seconds remaining, into an empty net. Nice goaltender Alexis Shank also played an important role in this victory, with decisive interventions. This result ends a streak of two consecutive defeats for the Eagles.

Volleyball: NVB dominates Sète

Nice Volley-Ball continued their encouraging start to the season. At the Palmeira hall, Brice Donat’s team defeated Arago de Sète in three sets (28-26, 25-22, 25-20), in the fourth round of Alterna Volstar.

The Nice team had to work hard in a closely contested first set. Against a Sète team still seeking their first victory, NVB gradually took control to conclude the match without dropping a set. This success allows the Azur club to climb to sixth place in League A. Sète remains last in the championship, without a single point.

Handball: the Nice women fall to Brest after strong resistance

The evening was more difficult for Nice Handball players. Facing Brest in Ligue Butagaz Énergie, the home team lost (36-32) at the end of a particularly closely contested match.

The first half remained balanced for a long time. Serious defensively, the Nice players also found solutions in counter-attacks. Clarisse Mairot notably stood out with seven goals scored during the first thirty minutes. At half-time, Brest had only a one-goal lead 17-16.

After the break, Nice even managed to take the lead. Marie Fall and then Margot Le Blevec contributed to this comeback, which allowed the home team to build a four-goal lead 30-26 as the final minutes approached.

But the Brest players ultimately reversed the trend. The Nice players conceded a severe 10-2 run in the closing stages of the match, allowing BBH to leave with all three points with a score of (36-32).

Despite this defeat, the Nice performance showed reasons for encouragement before an important fixture. The players must now prepare for the derby against Toulon, scheduled in eight days. A trip that will be another opportunity to pick up points and move closer to the top 8 of the championship.
