Two days after the gathering that brought together several thousand people in the streets of Nice, the unions are calling for a new day of mobilization this Saturday, November 7. The procession will depart from Place Masséna at 2 p.m. and will follow a route already used during the previous weekend of protest.
A departure from Place Masséna and a passage through the Port of Nice
The demonstration on Saturday, November 7 will begin at 2 p.m. at Place Masséna. The procession will then take Boulevard Jean-Jaurès before reaching Place Garibaldi and then Rue Cassini. The protesters will continue their march on Quai Papacino, Quai des États-Unis and Avenue Max-Gallo, to finally return to Place Masséna.
This route follows that of the previous mobilization. A choice that does not, however, fully satisfy the organizers. The inter-union federation notably wishes to be able to include Avenue Jean-Médecin during future gatherings. As a reminder, the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture deliberately kept this commercial street away from the route following the violence observed during the demonstration on October 17.
This new day of mobilization comes two days after the gathering organized on Thursday, November 5 in Nice. According to the unions, 10,500 people had participated in the march, compared to 2,600 protesters counted by the prefecture. Despite this counting discrepancy, the gathering took place peacefully.
For this fourth consecutive weekend of protest, the organizers hope to bring together once again high school students, students, employees, retirees, activists and citizens around the issue of the cost of living and the convergence of struggles.
