Emerging festival on the French Riviera, Un festival c’est trop court brings together each year the best of young European creation through many competitive programs focused on a cinematographic genre, the short film. With 8,000 spectators in 2012, the festival programs more than 170 films from all over Europe.
The festival consists of 4 official competitions:
– The European Competition, which includes about 40 films.
– “Courts d’ici” (films shot and produced in the PACA region)
– “Expérience” (a competition for experimental films, video art, new cinema)
– “Courts d’Animation” (a French-speaking competition for films from animation schools).
Each selection has been reviewed by a professional jury that votes for various cash prizes and technical services.
Since its inception, the festival has aimed to showcase the richness of European cinematography by honoring a different country each year. After the Czech Republic, the festival will turn towards Denmark.
The Nice festival is also a platform for creation and exchange, with the professional day, Nice Short Meeting, which discusses the artistic and economic challenges of short films with training workshops, author/producer meetings, themed round tables, debates, and screenings.
A week rich in discoveries to explore short films from all angles, complemented by special thematic programs and sessions.
Un festival c’est trop court has been encouraging the meeting of diverse audiences for many years by combining music and cinema through cine-concerts, moments of exception that add a unique dimension to the spirit of the festival.
