The Eagles of Nice were defeated in overtime against the Scorpions of Mulhouse with a score of 2-3 in a heated atmosphere! Nice still earns 1 point and drops to 6th place in the championship, only 2 points behind the leader. The Eagles’ next match is on Saturday, October 26th in Neuilly.
All the ingredients were there for a great evening: a crowd, an atmosphere, suspense, and 2 great teams! We knew this match was going to be intense and it was! Both teams delivered an excellent performance, with fast and physical hockey.
It took until the 2nd period to see the first goal, with the Scorpions opening the scoreboard at 23’38; Tarik CHIPAUX deceived the Nice goalkeeper (1-0). But less than 2 minutes later, Martin SLOVAK equalized (1-1).
In the 3rd period, Martin SLOVAK scored his second goal to give Nice the lead (2-1). The lead was maintained until 2’30 from the end… Tarik CHIPAUX also scored his second goal of the evening at 57’21 of play.
A 10-minute sudden death overtime followed. The Eagles held on with a numerical disadvantage, but with 3 minutes remaining, Marc-André LEVASSEUR sent the puck past the Nice goalie (2-3).
