A tragic event occurred this Sunday evening in Nice; a man struck by a tram has died.
The incident happened shortly before 7 PM on Avenue de la Californie in Nice. Despite the intervention of the firefighters, the man in his fifties passed away while trapped under tram 2 at Ferber stop.
The exact circumstances are not yet known; however, according to the initial elements of the investigation, the possibility of suicide seems to be ruled out. A spokesperson for the city and the Lignes d’Azur network assures that “all camera footage will be made available to the police.”
The driver, who was very shocked, was attended to by rescuers.
Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, expressed his support following this tragedy.
