This event, the largest of its kind in Europe, will be presided over by Jorge Semprun, writer and former Minister of Culture in Spain.
This forum gathers both big names of European theater, observers of the cultural scene (journalists, philosophers, critics, etc.), and political figures engaged in cultural life from all EU countries.
The theme of this edition is “Power and Theater”.
As part of the Forum evenings, performances will be presented for the first time. Coming from Africa, Asia, or Oceania, this forum held in Nice will be, for the participants, a gateway to Europe.
At the conclusion of the event, the publishing house “Actes Sud” will publish, at the start of summer 2009, a French and English version on the theater situation in Europe.
The Forum events:
- December 12 and 13: round tables and debates on the theme “Power and Theater, Power of Theater”.
- Three performances will be presented for the first time in Europe: they come from Georgia, Israel, and Uzbekistan. They were chosen based on this year’s theme and will be open to the general public.
