Two months of well-deserved rest after a promotion to D1, only 4 practice sessions this September 2014… and then straight into the deep end!
One had to be fit and sharp at the start of the season to participate in the first International Tournament in Italy, specifically in Rocca San Giovanni (in the province of Chieti), near Pescara.
Karolina Lazarewicz (coach) brought her 4 players: Bernard Berger, Jean-Philippe Lafaille, Cédric Bouchet, and Sébastien Filippini, for an International Preparatory Tournament ahead of the next French Championship which will take place on December 6 in Paris.
The team spirit was high, no stress but good focus and a strong collective desire.
The team from Nice started off at full throttle with 3 matches and 3 victories, scoring 12 goals and conceding 2… L’Aquila 4-1, Campana 5-0, Ciociaria 3-1
Immediately after, the team from Nice hit a “Belgian wall”… A logical 1-3 defeat against Wassland and the first defeat of the season!
But consecutively, the team from Nice was trapped by the Teramo team 1-3, before drawing courageously in the final moments against Olympic 3-3
Then the team from Nice performed an extraordinary feat by defeating the team from Trento, the reigning world champions, … 4-0!
Thanks to this victory, Nice ranked 2nd out of 8 and advanced to the semi-finals!
Campania was the opponent for a very contested semi-final, and the team from Nice emerged victorious thanks to a short but precious victory: 1-0
Wassland-Nice was the highlight of the Final, on paper somewhat unbalanced because the Belgians are accustomed to the European and World Cups…
But Nice held their own at halftime with a tight score: 1-1 before Wassland increased the pace and their precise shots found the net in Nice’s goals!
Final victory for the Belgians 5-2, but a very commendable performance from the team from Nice.
The season looks promising!
