The Alpes-Maritimes department is launching today the first edition of its project โThe Unlocked Operaโ: 4 free mini-concerts open to everyone, at 4 different locations.
As a flagship initiative of its social and cultural program, the department will offer a unique experience from May 2 to June 27, 2022: an opera… in the open air!
Every Monday from 1:45 PM to 4:30 PM, the Collective of Lyric Artists and Musicians for Solidarity (CALMS) will perform for 15 minutes at four different locations across the Maralpine territory:
1:45 PM: Gardens of Domaine de la Conque (EHPAD La Venรงoise) in Vence;
2:30 PM: Gardens of Saint-Michel (EHPAD La Venรงoise) in Vence;
3:30 PM: Place of the Specialized Care Home in Saint-Jeannet;
4:30 PM: Jean Moulin School (upper exit, 1 Rue des Abeilles) in Carros.
โOpen your windows, you’re at the opera!โ
The objective of the project: to democratize lyric art by allowing the most isolated and culturally distant inhabitants to access it through a more accessible and popular approach. Initiated in Aix-en-Provence in 2020, then continued in Manosque and Marseille, the project has paved the way for meetings and sharing through the regularity of its events. The artists will also address several societal themes, such as domestic violence or street harassment.
From Mozart to Ravel, the CALMS program is already available right [here](https://www.departement06.fr/documents/A-votre-service/Culture/Programme_opera_deconfine_Alpes_Maritimes_2022.pdf).
