A new joint leadership of the UMP with Eric Ciotti and Christian Estrosi.

After the election saga last November, the break and the reconciliation, the UMP presented its new leadership team, which respects a strict parity between the supporters of François Fillon and those of Jean-François Copé. The Azuréens, Christian Estrosi, Eric Ciotti, and Michèle Tabarot, are part of it.

“We have only one objective, as everyone understands well, which is to accomplish our mission of being the leading party of republican opposition,” insisted Jean-François Copé, promising UMP general states, “theme by theme.”

François Fillon was not present.

Jean-Pierre Raffarin, through whom the mediation and the agreement between the two rivals were possible and especially feasible, is the President of the National Council while Catherine Vautrin was appointed head of the party’s finances.

As planned, Fillonists Laurent Wauquiez and Valérie Pécresse will flank Copéists Luc Chatel and Michèle Tabarot, as vice-president and deputy secretary-general, respectively.

Four other vice-presidents have been appointed: Jean-Claude Gaudin, Brice Hortefeux, Christian Estrosi, and Roger Karoutchi.

Duos occupy all operational posts: Nadine Morano (pro-Copé) and Dominique Bussereau (pro-Fillon) for the elections, Edouard Courtial (pro-Copé) and Eric Ciotti (pro-Fillon) for federations.

The general delegation to the project will be entrusted to Hervé Mariton, the MP from Drôme who remained neutral during the campaign and was on the front line against same-sex marriage. He will be assisted by Valérie Debord (pro-Copé) and Bruno Retailleau (pro-Fillon).
