Nice is currently hosting the filming of a new series for France 2, entitled VIDAL. From January 13th until February 7th, cameras will explore the city and its surroundings to bring to life this fiction centered on an extraordinary doctor. Here is the synopsis.
The series VIDAL tells the story of Dr. Victor Vidal, played by David Kammenos. A former prominent figure in the hospitals of the French Riviera, this eccentric doctor has chosen a more intimate setting: an office set up in his own garden in Nice. An expert for the courts, he delves into complex medical enigmas. His daily life is punctuated by impossible diagnoses and human challenges.
In this 90-minute first episode, he is occupied with two cases. A foster mother suffers from mysterious symptoms that threaten her career. Simultaneously, a beauty queen faces unexpected hair growth. These medical investigations intertwine with the tensions of his private life. His wife Sophie, played by Anne Suarez, announces to him that their relationship is waning.
Victor’s daily life is further disrupted by the arrival of Haรฏssa (Nama Keita). This woman in reintegration, hired as an assistant, brings a pragmatic and novel perspective to his world. Their unexpected collaboration highlights the strengths and weaknesses of this atypical doctor.

The filming involves several iconic locations in Nice and its region. The series is based on a trio of writers, Alexis Le Sec, Emmanuel de Arriba, and Elsa Marpeau, with direction by Bรฉnรฉdicte Delmas. The cast includes actors such as Cรฉcile Rebboah, Stรฉphane Blancafort, and Vanessa Valence.
With a blend of medical investigations, family dramas, and human portraits, VIDAL explores universal themes. The intelligence and humanity of the main character promise to offer a captivating fiction.
