François-Xavier Lauch, 35 years old, current chief of staff to the Prefect of Alpes-Maritimes, has been appointed as chief of staff to the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron.
Highly regarded since his appointment in Alpes-Maritimes on February 13, 2015, as deputy prefect and chief of staff, François-Xavier Lauch quickly impressed with his strong command of matters and his interpersonal skills.
This alumnus of the “République” class at the École nationale d’administration (ENA) worked in the general secretariat of the Ministry of the Interior and Regional Development as a civil administrator.
He then served as deputy prefect of Vaucluse, secretary general of the Prefecture of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, chief of staff to the Prefect of Var, before being appointed in Alpes-Maritimes.
In Nice, he notably managed two major crises: the floods of October 2015 and, of course, the Nice attack on July 14, 2016, in addition to the issue of immigration from Italy.
