A record year for Lou Passagin in 2015

Latest News

Lou Passagin was refloated in 2012 by the Alpes-Maritimes Department, much to the delight of the people of Nice and tourists. They discover or rediscover the Lympia basin aboard it, reviving an old tradition that marked the port of Nice between the 1920s and the 1960s.

This year, from May 11 to October 11, 2015, seven days a week, from 10 AM to 7 PM, a record number of passengers boarded the traditional Niçois pointu, equipped with particularly innovative new equipment.

This year, the Ratapignata, the 7-meter pointu of the Niçois company E.E.M.C.A., was equipped with two submerged electric motors meeting sustainability requirements.

A positive outcome

Indeed, the pointu was able to make up to 110 round trips per day (between the Charles Felix dock and the Entrecasteaux quay), covering 37 km in one day, and carrying up to 500 people, with a daily consumption not exceeding €1.2 (EDF household rate).

Lou Passagin has been enjoying growing popular and tourist success for three years: the 2015 season was marked by a record attendance with 56,185 passengers transported from May 11 to October 11.
