Alpes-Maritimes Congress: the socialists have made their choice

Latest News

Next Thursday, the socialists will elect the national secretary, with Jean-Christophe Cambadรฉlis, who has decisively won the contest against Hervรฉ Paul, the representative of the party’s left wing and rebels.

The result is unequivocal, 60%, an absolute majority, twice the number of votes as his opponent. As the national press commented, the government’s policy is strengthened by this election.

The Socialist Party members in the Alpes-Maritimes voted 40.32% in favor of Motion B “On the Left to Win” led by Christian Paul. Motion A obtained only 48.77%, not reaching the absolute majority. Less than fifty votes separate the two different political orientations.

For Paul Cuturello, who represents this political sensibility locally: “As a result, we consider that the orientations we defended must be heard and taken into consideration.”

The next step will be the election of the departmental secretary and Xavier Garcia will put his position up for grabs.

In this context, the union between the left and the rebels will certainly want to try their luck and perhaps create a surprise.

Following the testimonial candidacy of Jean-Franรงois Verdier last December, it is almost certain that the challenger to the outgoing secretary Xavier Garcia will be Arnaud Delcasse.

With the electoral competitions that manage the political objectives of various sensibilities ending, it would be time to return to a more appropriate context and behaviors.

Ultimately, the real adversaries of the socialists are outside the party, and given the poor electoral situation, the struggle between the government supporters and rebels can only have negative repercussions.

A matter for reflection before throwing energies into a battle that is certainly not the right one!
