This 90-minute documentary, directed by Stéphane Benhamou and advised by historian Jean-Paul Potron, is a production of Siècle Productions, with the participation of France Télévisions and the support of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region and the National Center of Cinema and Animated Image (CNC).
This film narrates, from Saint-Tropez to Menton, the ‘history of discovery’ and the transformations of the French Riviera through archives and testimonies. Indeed, you will discover the spectacular transformation of this once inhospitable coastline into a mythical place in just one century. Through colorized archives, it explores the cosmopolitan life of European monarchs who frequented the seaside resorts at the beginning of the 20th century, Hollywood celebrities who redefined Cannes, and contemporary magnates building luxurious villas on the coast.
