16! That’s the number of performances that Cap-Martin Park will host this year until September 30 in its gardens. This is an opportunity for artists to present their hyper-creative works and discuss their conception.
One of the highlights of this 4th edition is the tribute to the former Empress of France, Eugénie, who owned a villa in the 24th century in the commune of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, through a new sculpture molded in marble powder. Etienne Chilot, author of the first book on the history of Eugénie, explains that it was the book that “led to the creation of the sculpture.”
Passionate about the history of the Empress, he wanted to “study a subject that had never been explored. The history of Empress Eugénie through the development of the Cap-Martin gardens.” He explains that he has collected many archives as well as unpublished “intimate and incredible” photos of the Empress.
Another highlight particularly represented in this 4th edition of Art-Bre is the candy theme. Xavier Perret displays his very sweet photo exhibition showcasing a modern vision of candies through photography. Laurence Jenkell, a sculptor artist, is the creator of plexiglass candies nearly 2.20 meters high.
When explaining the conception of her works, she admits having “discovered by chance that twisting a piece of melted plexiglass could lead to a form of art.” Passionate about architecture, she exhibits several giant candies in various colors around the world, with a total of eight creations within Cap-Martin Park.
Other works to discover include “the Bronze Bull” by Mateo Mornari, “the 4 elements” by Marcos Marin, and the new sculpture by Gérard-Haton-Gautier.
