Object of particular devotion, Mary is a popular figure in the Catholic Church that is dear to Mediterranean peoples. The Madonna indeed symbolizes the image of the Mother, protector and comforter. She is the subject of many artistic and votive representations.
Holy Virgin procession
On the occasion of the traditional feast of the Assumption, Christian Estrosi, Deputy, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, and Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes invite you to celebrate the Virgin Mary, patroness of sailors, in the presence of many faithful.
The Seagull Club will gather about forty traditional boats called “pointus” for a maritime procession of the statue of the Virgin in the Lympia port of Nice. These “pointus” have an average age of 56 years. Since no more are manufactured today, they are a heritage to appreciate, protect, and will be blessed on this day of Saint Mary.

5:45 PM-6:30 PM ●●● Parade of the flower-decorated “pointus” from the La Mouette association in the Lympia and Admirals basins. Musical entertainment.
6:30 PM ●●● Procession from the church Notre Dame du Port to the Entrecasteaux quay.
7:00 PM ●●● Open-air mass on the Entrecasteaux quay.
8:30 PM-8:45 PM ●●● Procession to bring the statue of the Virgin back to the church Notre Dame du Port.
10:00 PM ●●● Grand soundtracked fireworks display, launched at sea, in front of the Office of Tourism and Congress of Nice, 5 Promenade des Anglais, organized as part of the Prom’ Party that will take place from 8:00 PM to 11:30 PM.
