It was in Saint Etienne last weekend that the NCAA’s first team, consisting of 60 male and female athletes, confirmed their place in the elite division for the 7th consecutive year.

ncaa-team.jpgThe task was not easy considering the withdrawal due to injury of 8 key athletes present in the first round. The cohesion and fighting spirit of everyone allowed a weakened team to rise to the challenge by securing 3rd place among the eight teams, just half a point behind Lyon.

The leaders delivered by securing victory in their events with national-level performances such as Marine Tanguy in the 800m, Souhir Bouabda in the 400m hurdles, Binta Diagana in shot put, Olivia Waldet in the hammer throw, Alexia Kogut Kubiak in the javelin throw, Youssef Benzamia in high jump, Dean Nick Allen in discus throw, and Fadhedine Madi Ali in javelin throw.

Now it’s time for the individual championships, which should allow the Niรงoise elite to rise to the highest French level.
