Backpedaling on TER station security: from implementation to … studies

Latest News

Christian Estrosi admits again that there will be no security gates in the TER stations of the PACA region.

In a message posted on his Facebook page during his trip to Israel, Christian Estrosi admits once again to the massive falsehood he engaged in regarding the famous security gates in the TER stations: “I want (…) to also conduct studies to evaluate the conditions for securing and controlling these access points to the platforms to ensure passenger safety.”

“Conduct studies,” we are far removed from the determination previously displayed. As a reminder, he had stated in several interviews that half of the stations in the Provence-Alpes-Cรดte d’Azur region would be equipped by June.

For instance, as recently as January 18, less than a month ago, Christian Estrosi proclaimed: “As I promise, and I will keep it, in six months, we will board the TER through a security gate.”

In reality, the president/mayor/deputy has significantly scaled back his ambitions, as during the plenary session on January 29, he only proposed to “engage in the search for innovative solutions.”

On behalf of the Front National group, I denounced this smoke and mirrors during my speech.

The published message only confirms the renouncement of a promise that we had very early on denounced during the campaign as completely unrealistic and unachievable.

Philippe Vardon โ€“ regional councilor of the PACA Region (Front National group)
